How serious is blood cancer?
Did you know that each year:
• an average of 1,285 children are diagnosed with cancer in Canada
• 227 children die from leukemia. It is the most common childhood cancer
• 26 percent of all new cancer patients have blood cancer
• 1 in 14 Canadian adults are diagnosed with this disease
• Every ten minutes, one person will die from leukemia, lymphoma or myeloma. This is 145 people every day.
I lost my fiancé to leukemia exactly a year ago. He was 36 years old. Although he did not survive, the medical treatment he received gave us more time to enjoy every moment together. Because of this, we were able to celebrate Christmas 2007, New Years and his 36th birthday before he passed away.
My team and I are raising funds and training for a marathon to help find a cure for these blood cancers and to save more lives.
Thank you for your support and contribution in helping us to make a difference!
